Tan Prep

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

Prep is crucial. A truly beautiful tan is 50% me, and 50% prep.

It helps your tan last longer, it prevents any patches, and stops your color from turning green (looking at you, Dove soap).

The night before your appointment: Shower, shave, and exfoliate. Use an exfoliating mitt, or brush, to get off dead skin or old tan.

This is the most crucial step before your appointment!

WHY: Your skin needs (at minimum) an 8 hour buffer between a shower and your tan. Otherwise your skin will be waterlogged and your tan will not stick.

1

Shower. Shave. Exfoliate.

Have blank canvas skin when you come to your appointment. No lotion. No deodorant. No perfume. No oil. No makeup.

WHY: Putting on lotion creates a barrier between your skin and the tan.

2

Be A Blank Canvas.

Waxes, facials, massages, and pedicures should be done 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.

3

WHY: These treatments can prevent the tan from adhering properly or remove the tan if done too close to your appointment.

Schedule Ahead.
(48 hours ahead.)

Stop using retinol 7 days before and after your tan.

4

WHY: Retinol can cause your tan to fade quicker.

Avoid Retinol.

Stay away from these Brands. Their products can turn your tan green or cause it to fade unevenly.

5

Avoid The Bad List.

Wear Loose, Dark Clothing.

6

WHY: Your tan will continue to develop and if you put on tight clothing you have a high chance of rubbing off your color, creating splotches. If you wear shorts, you could end up with splotches from your legs having prolonged contact with your car seat on the drive home.

No shorts or sports bras. Opt for baggy, dark-colored clothes.

Depending on the shade you chose, Kylie will let you know when to rinse after your spray tan.

This first rinse is NOT a shower.
This is a quick 45-second rinse-off.

Do not use soap, do not scrub.
Use lukewarm water – The water will be brown going down the drain, this is expected and is normal.

7

Your First Rinse.

WHY: The rinse off time prevents “alligator skin”. If the tan sits too long, it could result in a dried out, cracked, tan. (Hence, “alligator”, not the bronze look we are going for.)

Don’t stress if it feels like a lot; we’ve got you covered (in flawless color, of course). Your tan is going to look stunning, and you’ll be glowing with confidence in no time!

That’s it! Follow these 7 steps, and you’re golden—literally.
